Intended Use

All are based on the chromatographic immunoassay principle, and are used to qualitatively predict the LH surge. The testing results are mainly used to predict the LH surge, and also can be used to as an indicator of certain dysfunctions.
When Take LH Tests
The best times to test are between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and between 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. To ensure that you do not miss your surge, you may test twice a day, once in the earlier time frame and once at later time. The detection limit for the LH Test Kit is 30 mIU/ml LH.
When testing with a LH Ovulation rapid test device, the first thing to do is to determine the length of the menstrual cycle. If the cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 38 days, a doctor should be consulted on when to start. Or else, when not knowing the cycle length, one can also begin the test 11 days after the first period, since the average menstrual cycle length is 28 days. Perform one check each day over a 5-day period, or until the LH surge is detected.
Why Predict LH Surge
During the reproductive years, typical LH levels are between 1-20 IU/L. LH increases dramatically just before a woman's most fertile day of the month in a process commonly referred to as the "LH Surge", which triggers ovulation. Because the egg can only be fertilized between 6 to 24 hours after ovulation, detecting ovulation in advance by testing for the LH surge is very helpful for women seeking pregnancy.
But because sperms can stay viable in the woman's body for several days, LH tests are NOT suitable as a contraceptive measures, as the LH surge typically occurs after the beginning of the fertile window.
