Principle of Methadone Rapid Test

Methadone Rapid Tests are an immunoassay based on the principle of drugs competitive binding principle. With MTD Rapid Tests, an Methadone-positive urine specimen (MTD concentration >300 ng/mL) will not generate a red or pink line in the test line region because of drug competition, while a MTD negative urine specimen or a specimen containing a MTD drug concentration less than the cut-off number will generate a line in the test line region.

As general with one-step rapid drug tests, one pink line of in a methadone screen test indicates a positive result, and two pink lines indicate a negative result. This result interpretation makes drug test different from all other rapid test strips and cassettes. (Note: a test result with a obscure pink line at the test line region should be considered as negative result, although further sophisticated method are recommended if there is any doubt about the result.)
