TOXO IgM and TOXO IgG Immunoassay Kits

Toxoplasma POCT Rapid Test

For the detection of Toxoplasma infection, Atlas Link Technology Co, Ltd supplies three series of TOXO antibody test kits, namely lateral flow Toxoplasma rapid test kits, Toxoplasma Dot Assay Kits, and Toxoplasma ELISA kits. For all these three series, both IgG antibody test kit and IgM test kit are available.

Toxoplasma (TOXO) POCT test kits can be divided into two types, according to the antibody type to be tested, namely TOXO IgM test and TOXO IgG test. The two TOXO rapid tests are based on the principle of Gold Immuno-chromatography Assay (GICA), using the antibody-antigen reaction to detect IgM and IgG antibodies in human serum or plasma specimen respectively. By detecting the Toxoplasma specific antibodies in serum samples from pregnant women, and by differentiating the IgM and IgG antibodies, TOXO test kits help to determine the immune status and the infection status of the patient, thus help administration properly.

Principle of TOXO Rapid Test kit

With a TOXO IgM assay, when the serum sample added contains TOXO-IgM, the antibody will react with anti-human IgM monoclonal antibody in the membrane strip. These complexes move along the membrane strip chromatographically to the test region (T), where these complexes will be captured by the pre-coated recombinant TOXO antigen. Then a red or pink line will appear, indicating a positive result. The unbounded complex moves on to the control region (C), where they are captured by the anti-mouse antibody, and a red line will appear, indicating the assay is a valid one. In this way, the control line provides an inner quality control mechanism for this TOXO serum test. For a TOXO IgG assay, the principle is the same.

Toxoplasmosis Infection

Toxoplasmosis is a systemic disease, caused by the protozoa Toxoplasma gondii. Human can be infected by contacting with infected meat, by contacting feces of a cat that has recently been infected, or by transmission from mother to fetus. About one third of the world's human population is estimated to carry toxoplasma. During the first few weeks after infected, the infection typically causes a mild flu-like illness. Thereafter, the parasite rarely causes any symptom in adults. However, infection in Immunocompromised patients and in the developing fetus can lead to serious consequences. And opportunistic toxoplasmosis infection or reactivation of a subclinical infection in Immunocompromised patients may cause encephalitis, pneumonitis and myocarditis. In the congenitally infected fetus the infection may spread to the central nervous system. Abortion and stillbirth may occur when infection takes place during the first trimester of pregnancy, and irreversible neurological damages in case of infection during the second or third trimester. Many infants who are infected later than the critical trimesters may have no symptoms at birth, but may develop symptoms later in life.
